Lots of great content out there this month as it relates to search, social, and analytics. So much so that I’m beginning to worry.  Doesn’t anyone go on holiday anymore?  With all that great info out there, coming down to a handful of favorites was tough, but here it is, your online marketing articles of the month for July 2010. Optimizing News for Search with Topher Kohan of CNN

July 30th, 2010 No comments

CNN is arguably an online marketing success story like no other.  CNN.com, a division of Turner broadcasting and a Time Warner company, had what it took to succeed when many other “traditional” news outlets struggled to find a foothold in the digital media space.  My guest today is a guy that “get’s it”: Topher Kohan, in-house SEO coordinator at CNN, who was responsible for a 17% increase in search traffic year over year for various websites under the CNN umbrella.  He stops by to discuss optimizing news for search, and his guest panelist appearance at SES San Francisco and Connected Marketing Week. PPC-Advice.com redesign live tonight

July 27th, 2010 No comments

You may notice that we shined up the design on PPC-Advice tonight.  Hope everyone enjoys the new look and feel as it marks only the 3rd official redesign in nearly 3 years.

It’s true, I’ve been doing this nearly 3 years.  How appropriate that my 3rd anniversary for the blog falls around the time of Connected Marketing Week and SES, the best sponsors and partners a guy could ask for.

As most of you know, I advocate making small, educated changes to any design, so I didn’t want to change too much, but I felt the great content on my site outgrew the very narrow columns of the old design.  I’m a bit embarrassed to admit it, but I didn’t really test it across multiple browsers, so feel free to leave a comment if the new design looks a bit bizarre on your browser and we’ll address the problem ASAP.

Thanks for sticking with us through the years, it’s been a blast so far, and I have no intention to stop anytime soon!

If you thought SES San Jose was big last year, wait until you see what the organizers have in store this year.  They call it “Connected Marketing Week,” which literally translates to “hang on tight.”  This time we’re all descending on San Francisco, but not for a measily trio of 9-5 days — this time it’s 5 full days of crazy.  Focusing on all facets of our digital world, including social media, email marketing, ad networks, search optimization, and real-time information, Connected Marketing Week promises to satisfy everyone.  To sort out all this madness, I interviewed Anna Maria Virzi, Executive Editor at ClickZ in an effort to get a better idea of what’s in store: Read more…

Online marketing news in review, June 2010

July 12th, 2010 No comments

I totally realize it’s already July 12th, however I’ve been so wrapped-up in writing and presenting great content elsewhere that I let my own blog slip.  Apologies to my loyal readers, more content is on it’s way, but for now I’m catching up on some much-needed link-loving for the month that was June 2010.  A lot went on in June, including Search Engine Strategies Toronto.
