Google/GoDaddy Partnerships Could Define Web 2.0

Rumors regarding Google’s next big acquisition abound with mentions of Sprint popping up here and there.  One significant relationship that is emerging could change the way everyone interacts on the internet, and that is through increasingly tight partnerships between Google and Go Daddy.  Go Daddy of course is the internet leader in domain registrations with over 25 million sold, plus countless more millions opted into web hosting, certificates, merchant services, etc.  Sprint would be big acquisition, but GoDaddy could be monumental.

What would Google gain from partnering with Go Daddy?

  • how about over 30 million customers?
  • untold millions of reseller relationships and potential placement properties
  • domain registration domination (and best brand recognition) in the industry
  • online infrastructure that may in fact compete their own for size
  • seamless Google Apps integration (we’re already seeing this with Webmaster tools)

It will be interesting to see what the new partnership relationships begin for Google and Go Daddy.  What would the resultant company be called?  A conservative mix of both brands?  Google Go Daddy?  Or maybe a hybrid like, Go Google, or Google Daddy.  Whatever the case may be, throw this one into the possible not probable merger category along with Google/Sprint.
