Many people ask me for opinion on my preferred hosting companies and the choices may not be so obvious. Advertising credits are merely an incentive, so let’s look at my top choices for hosting companies, and why I recommend different companies to different clients.
- Nexx Web Hosting: Nexx is a relatively new shared hosting provider, and as such offers a great platform to start off. Customers enjoy low site to server ratios and great plan specifications, with ample bandwidth, free domain for life with free privacy, and enough disk space for pretty much every need. Their speed is slower than average, and a lot of their 1-touch software installs are a bit old.

Their servers are a bit more crowded, but their speed cannot be beat. Although you do get a free domain for life, you have to pay extra for domain privacy. Their Fantastico software is regularly updated, and getting started could not be easier.
Coupon provided: $25 Yahoo Search credit on $5.95/mo CAD hosting plan. - 1&1 Internet: Definitely not Canadian, but pretty darn good. With the dollar above par lately, 1&1 is an easy choice. They are a popular host, so do not expect the quickest server access, nor the best site to server hosting ratio. Their 1-click install software is pretty good, even though they are missing Wordpress, it’s an easy do-it-yourself install.
