Best of the Worst: Elections Ontario (follow-up)

(Follow-up included below original post)

Fridays and levity go well together, don’t they? Every once and a while, it’s nice to just kick back, find something light to write about - possibly ridicule the Government of Ontario?

Here’s a little background info for my out of Canada visitors:

Aside from going to the polls on October 9th to elect a new member of provincial parliament and premier of Ontario, residents will also be asked to decide whether they want to keep the existing electoral system, or whether they would like to migrate to a new mixed system. I refuse to talk politics because regardless of the party, policy, or riding, being elected a seat on any level of government is much like winning the lottery. Collect your ludicrous paycheck, do nothing but make puppies all day (to put it nicely), and oh yeah, collect a full pension upon retirement.

I digress, Elections Ontario should be thanked in some respect for reaching out to a greater audience of potential voters by launching a pay-per-click advertising campaign. But for the love of Pete, could they at least take the time to check spelling on the ads they’re running. Surely it’s not a matter of hiring the right people, or buying an English dictionary, is it? If so, I’d like to introduce you to my own Online Marketing firm - we check spelling. With the vast governmental riches in our provincial coffers, and ludicrous paychecks going out to our public sector workers, we must be able to do better than this?!

At least the guy tasked with buying domain names was smart enough to purchase the correct one. If anyone is interested in monetizing a domain name, YOURBIGDESICION.CA might be a good option right now.

HOW EMBARRASSING…

Edit: October 4th

Guess someone heard my plea, because this morning I came across this ad on the Yahoo Partner Network:

YourBigDecision.ca Banner

The URL is now spelled correctly! Not bad for Government, it only took a week to fix. I’ll bet the SEM that was touting this contract is keeping quiet for now.
